How To Decorate A Living Room
Living room is a place where our family, relatives, friends, guests, etc would stay along the most, so a living room with proper decoration would give a good impression to anyone who come visit our house. Most importantly, it says who we are, because we are the one who decorate it with our style and taste.
Decorate a living room is to find suitable decor which matches with each other and complement with our living room theme. It looks weird to have a big round beautiful traditional style table to match with a modern style chair in a country style living room theme because they don't match with each other, unless we are trying to go hybrid. For example, we use an area decorated with traditional style while another area is decorated with modern style. What is decor? Explaining this in a simple way, decor could be furniture, accessories, wall arts, etc that we used to decorate our living room.
Things to Consider Before Taking Any Action
Before we start decorating our living room or purchase anything from merchant, we have to think about what is our style. Yes, our own style, as mentioned above, our style actually tells people who we are. Maybe we like traditional? Modern? Country? We can go with any of these styles and we want people to know what is our taste, interest, or even our personalities by looking into how we decorate a living room.
The next thing is to measure our living room. Take time to measure it so that we know what to put and fully utilize our living room space. We don't want to have a very good style and plan yet ends up with a common mistake – "My living room don't have enough space to fit my style and plan". This is a very common mistake which most people often made.
After measurement, we can start selecting our favorite decor to decorate our living room. Here comes another mistake which most of us would made. We tend to get something cheap but doesn't fit a purpose putting it in our living room, in other words, we don't need them and they won't give any contribution to our decoration. Or, we tend to get something very useful with a very good appearance but it doesn't match with our style or fit into the living room. I'm not trying to say that we can't get something cheap or something good, just try to get something which serve us a purpose or even more, yet they still reflect our style, taste and match with each other, but it's all up to you to decide.
When choosing a decor, if we find one among them that suit our style, complement with our living room theme, and we like it very much, we should purchase them without hesitation as it is a great deal. As mentioned above, this is a place where everyone spending most of their time staying here, but do this only when we have no financial problem, for those who are on budget, just keep the room simple, we don't have to get a very expensive furniture because every piece of furniture are beautiful no matter they are cheap or not and they will add contribution to our decoration assuming we match them well. Just be caution that we may want to have decors we like but we must make sure they match with each other because many of them don't flow together, otherwise they will just clash thus giving people a very weird feeling.
